News Update, Isle of May Outing

I hope everyone is having a productive and enjoyable summer, despite the changeable weather.  It's been great to keep up to date with many of your photos on the facebook chatroom - there can't be many jays and woodpeckers left in the North East that haven't featured!

Firstly, some rather terrible news.  Ken alerted me to the unfortunate passing of Simon Harbord this week.  Simon visited the club last season and gave a brilliant demonstration of Wet Plate Collodion photography - I think those that were there that night all agreed that it was one of the most entertaining club nights we've ever had.  Simon was a terrific guy, and so enthusiastic about his traditional photography techniques, as well as Kite Photography.  Simon passed away on July 4th 2019 after a short illness. He leaves a wife Lyn, daughter and grandson.

Apologies if other news updates have been rather thin on the ground.  Work and other commitments have rather got on top of me this summer.  Never fear though, September will roll around quickly enough!!

The principle reason for this update is to remind everyone that we have our outing to the Isle of May this weekend.  I booked our tickets way back in April, and completely forgot about it until last week! I've been preoccupied with macro photography and forgot about birds!

Who doesn't love puffins?

The forecast looks good for Sunday, and the May Princess sails at 11am.  It is sold out, so the boat will be busy, so if you want a good seat, make sure you are at Anstruther at around 10am to join the queue.  I know quite a few people have booked to go, so I am looking forward to seeing you all again!
